How are we currently choosing doctors and other health professionals? We ask friends and family, we investigate in the neighbourhood, we read notices in the newspaper about new practices, we search online… .
What are we doing while falling sick during a holiday? We enquire with hotel reception, we trust the recommandation we got from there, we proceed … .
How are we now shopping for medical devices, prescription medicine and paramedical products? We look into phone books, we ask where is the nearest pharmacy, we try products offered by the device shop we are usually going to … .
How are we planning medical treatment abroad? We first ask our health insurance and coverage for prior approval if needed, we check what public health systems in other countries are offering the highest standards and quality and, again, we choose a doctor or medical provider based on personal assessment which is difficult to make … .
But why are we complicating our lives in such a way? Why do we spend days and hours to investigate ? Why can’t we use this precious time to spend beautiful moments with our family and friends?
Everyone (some more than others) is in need of healthcare services. We either prevent or cure situations of sickness. Our relation with a doctor, a nurse, a midwife, a pharmacist, is indeed a very private one. It is based on mutual trust, on devoted time, on quality in treatment, on clear explanations, on simple words, on follow up. But we can learn from experiences other patients have made with a particular provider. Professionals also can learn from those experiences to improve their service.
Why are we not sharing those experiences we made? Why are we not letting other patients learn from us while choosing the best possible provider?
Meopin is working to change the relation between medical provider and patient. We are asking the relevant questions. We will facilitate your life.
