Professional Teeth Cleaning – why oral hygiene is important
Good oral hygiene is very important for human health. A regular dental care ensures the reduction of caries and gum disease. Professional teeth cleaning at the dentist plays an important role here.
How is a professional teeth cleaning done?
When cleaning teeth (PTC), the dentist advises the patient on the current state of oral hygiene. Ultrasonic tips and manual instruments are then used to remove hard evidence such as tartar. The use of suitable powder blasters also removes discoloration and soft deposits. Afterwards, the teeth are polished with suitable pastes and rotating brushes and rubber balls and then fluoridated.
Thus, the tooth surface is smooth again and the teeth are more easily rid of bacteria.
How long does a PTC take and how often should it be repeated?
Depending on the oral hygiene and number of teeth, a PTC takes between 30 and 60 minutes on average.
As a rule, two cleanings a year are sufficient. For certain diseases, such as Periodontitis or poor oral hygiene may also require more cleanings with your dentist.
